Skywarn Recognition Day
By w0kf - Date: 2003-12-04 07:50:27

Skywarn recognition day will be this Friday (starts at 6:00PM) and Saturday (continues until 6:00PM.) Please check the calendar for links and details. Tim, N0BYH, gives the following information for the local event:

Just a reminder. It is the end of the season and once again there will be a special event party at the NWS in Chanhassen. It will start at 6:00 PM Fri. Dec. 5th and end on Sat. at 6:00 PM Dec. 6th. It will be hosted by MNYARC/K0BSA Venture Crew. They will have several HF stations setup for your pleasure (control operators will be present if your license does not allow for these bands). There will also be several VHF/UHF stations too. We try to contact as many other event stations (mostly other NWS around the country) as we can. Stop out anytime during these hours to see the internal workings of the NWS and have some operating fun. The MNYARC communications van will be on display (and providing ant. support for the event). Gordy (N0ZRD) will have his world renowned snacks available (free will donation). You may come out anytime during this 24 HR period. We especially encourage you to bring young people along. The Scouts take great pleasure in showing them the fun in HAM radio too. If you come in the evening, there is a door bell system at the front door just inside the outside main door. Otherwise come around to the back door (see our van and ant system first) and it should be open at all times.

Directions: Take Hwy 5 SW from the Twin Cities past 494 (stay in right lane to avoid 312 split) and past 101 and past Power, to Audubon (next light after Power) and go South (Left turn) to West Lake and West (right turn) to NWS (on your left) Hope to see you there, and thanks for all your support of Skywarn this past season. 73's Tim Arimond N0BYH
